An anon sent me a message asking if I could make a tutorial on how to convert children’s clothing to adult clothing (and they specifically mentioned a dress) so I will be showing the process of how I made the Chloe Dress!
I would say that my tutorial will be beginner-intermediate level, and so there may be some steps that you may already know, but I figured I would just go ahead and cover as much as I can for anyone who looks at this tutorial!
Also, this tutorial became super long. Sorry about that! lol

Getting Started – Sims4Studio
- Find the child clothing you wish to convert and select all of its swatches. Once you open it, export all of the swatches (you can do this as PNG or DDS) and then go to the Warehouse tab and find the DST (bump) image and RLES specular image (not pictured, but it will be split in half with the left half being what looks like gray and the other half being black and white). Then choose the swatch of the child outfit that you don’t mind looking at for a long time and export the LOD 0 mesh.
- You will be needing the female nude top and bottom (if you were making a male mesh, you would need the male nude top/bottom), so make sure you have exported these.
- The last thing to do before getting in Blender is to find an adult mesh to essentially “replace” with your new mesh. I chose the flowery dress in the image. You can just pick one swatch, since you will eventually be adding all of the swatches you exported from the child mesh. Then export the adult mesh.
- Important: If you want your CC to be base game compatible, you will need to pick a mesh from the base game to “replace”.

- Now, open your adult “replacing” mesh (the flower dress, in my example) and take note of the different meshes in the files and their GEOM cuts. The GEOM cuts are found under the little tab on the right side that looks like it has 3 objects in it, with one being a cylinder.
- In this flowery dress file, I have 3 meshes: ankles (GEOM 0000), calves (GEOM 0001), and the dress (GEOM 0002). We will need to make sure that the child outfit that we edit has the GEOM cut of 0002 before importing it into S4S at the end. To change the GEOM cut number, simply double click in the text box with the number.
- For now, hide the meshes by clicking on the eye icon next to the mesh name, on the right side.
- Now you’ll want to Append [SHIFT + F1 or File –> Append] the nude top and nude bottom into your file. You will have to find the name and folder of where you saved those two nude meshes. Once you click on the nude mesh, you’ll see a bunch of folders. Choose Object, and then the S4Studio_mesh_#. In this case, the number at the end of the mesh name is 1.

- Next, open the child mesh in a separate file. I like to combine everything into one mesh just to make appending it to the adult file easier. You can also clean it up in this file as well.
- A quick way to combine all of the meshes is to click on a mesh and then hit the B Key and click and drag over the whole model to select all of the meshes. Then press CTRL + J or go to the Object Menu and select Join.
