ℹ️Neia’s Create-A-Career Tutorial by midnitetechℹ️
Note: this is for Windows only
Want to get into making careers, but aren’t sure how to use Python? I’ll walk you through every step. It’s quite long, but I’ve simplified it as much as possible. First of all, you’ll need to download the following;
Python (must be this version, scroll down to Download, and grab the Windows x86-64 embeddable zip file.) When you install Python, double check the install directory. You want C://Python/Python37/Python.exe, but sometimes it defaults to a different directory.
**Register** for a Create-A-Career account
All set? Great, let’s get started!
First, sign into your new Create-A-Career account, and click Create a new career. Give it a name. In this tutorial, we’re going to be making an Animal Behaviorist career, so I’m using that as my career name. Now, click Edit next to Main Track, and choose some images. You can grab all the Sims 4 icons right HERE. Your main career image needs to be 1000x500 pixels. You can resize them online HERE, or use Paint etc.
Now, I need to create levels to the career. The first one is going to be Applied Animal Behaviorist, so click Edit next to that, and fill in your details. Remember the time you start your job is 24h, so if you want to start at 5pm, type “17”. Save, THEN add your objective, which is the skill level required to be promoted to the next level.
Repeat for each level you want. Now, I want to create 2 branches, one for a Cat Behaviorist, and one for a Dog Behaviorist. Click on New Track, and select your first track. Click Edit next to Main Track, and choose some images, as above. These can be the same if you want. Now add the levels you’d like to each branch, as above.
Now we need some text to go with our career, so go to Texts, and click on your language. Just a tip, if the server gets overloaded, you’re going to get kicked out when you press save, and everything you’ve typed will be lost, so either save regularly, or write it all out in Word, and then copy/paste it over. First, choose your Location, then add PTO (Paid Time Off). If you want to match the game text, this should say “Take Vacation Day (Animal Behaviourist)”. Click save, and return.
Scroll down to Overview, and click each section, making sure you’ve filled it in. Everything OK? Great, click Export. Wait a while while your files are compiled. Click Download. Save to your Desktop and unzip to a folder. I use WinRar. Your folder should look like this, possibly also containing a Neia_Careers_Commons file.
