This is my method of removal, again there are other ways. I’m taking a very simple one for the tutorial. I’m going to remove a graphic and the pockets on this jacket:

First, we take out the llama. We all know how shifty they are.

I’ll be using the patch tool. You can either select the llama using the regular selection boxes or you can use the patch tool. The patch tool selection is always hand drawn lasso. If you want to use a selection box, select the llama first then select the patch tool, which is here:

However, for this, I’ll use the patch tool’s own lasso. The llama’s tail is too close to a shadow area and in a narrow strip so I don’t want to mess with blending that large of an area when there’s no need to. I’ve used it to select the llama and now I drag it to a clean area of the texture. Sometimes you only need to do this once, I needed to twice for this.

So that’s done. I’ve done the same with the pockets now, but you can see remnants of not well blended texture.

For that clean up, I’ll use the healing brush. You can also use spot healing brush, but the healing brush lets you select your clone source, which I find easier to use when it’s not literally just one spot you’re cleaning with one click.

Hold alt and pick an area close by that isn’t too different in color or shading than the area you’re fixing.

This also works nicely for messed up seams but you have to be careful. I’ll mess up this seam and fix it to show you. For fixing a seam, you need to clone (alt click) on a part of the seam directly above or below the problem. Then watch the preview to align it and click just once. I’d already had the seam cloned here but I cloned it again in the gif:

Save it and import it once you’ve removed the details and look:

Nice, right? BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE.
