squint hard because the difference is quite hard to spotdish: how to make a simple shadow map for clothingdifficulty: sorta average difficulty if you know how to navigate photoshop (notably alpha channels) & s4studioingredients:- photoshop (please do not ask me where to get photoshop)- a dds plugin for your photoshop (pretty sure shadow maps have to be dds)- the texture of the item you want to recolour if you have any issues, please feel free to ask questions (preferably off anon so i can help you easily) - please don’t ask about how to obtain programs or operate s4studio :-( google is your best friend!method: 1. to start, this method works best for things that are flat on the sim’s body eg. my bodysuits which are on a nude mesh or any ea meshes - this will not work with anything made with marvelous designer (you will have to use a diff method sorry!) - open your texture in photoshop!!2. on the bottom right navigate to your channels tab and select alpha 1 (the other channels should automatically unselect) - your texture should now be like black and white (black is what doesn’t appear on the sim, white is what appears on your sim, basically…)3. use the magic wand tool to select the black outside area of the alpha (hopefully your alpha isn’t too complicated and it’s easy to select)4. now click on the RGB channel again so you can see the normal texture but the background is still remained selected - BY THE WAY if you made your cc texture from scratch you probably don’t have to do this whole delete background part LOL5. now navigate back to your layers tab and double click your layer which is probably named “background” and is locked this will come up and just press ok - this will unlock your layer6. now press delete on your keyboard and the background will delete - so now it will be all clean and nice :-) 7. now make a new layer underneath the texture and paint bucket it white (that’s #ffffff)8. so now right click your background layer and choose blending options from the menuyou will add a color overlay - here are the settingsnow also add a stroke - here’s the settings below (the colour should just be a light grey)9. i’ve zoomed in so you guys can see but now the texture should look something like this - just right click your layers and flatten the whole thing10. now use gaussian blur to soften the shadows (filter > blur > gaussian blur)mine looks like this now11. go back to the channels tab and select the alpha channel again - use the selection tool to draw a box around all the white bits roughlyright click and fill that selection box with white12. now save the file make sure it’s a dds file!! and import it into s4studio where it says “shadow”now check it in game and see if it works!! it’s pretty subtle as you can see in my before/after but it gives the clothing dimension especially if it’s just on a nude meshplay around with shadow colours and blurring so find a shadow that you like :-) hope the tutorial wasn’t too weird and hard to follow i feel like i wasn’t being very coherent ahhh - anyways thank you for reading to the end!!!!!
